Growing Zones - Container Gardens for Schools
Children love messing about in gardens and getting their hands dirty! Gardening is healthy, sociable and fun, and helps children learn about nature and the environment. Introducing children to gardening from an early age helps them understand where food comes from and research from the RHS suggests it can help improve pupils’ academic achievement, behaviour and self confidence.
Not all schools have the space or the resources to create a permanent outside garden and even the smallest traditional garden requires year round labour intensive maintenance. That’s where Instaplanta’s Growing Zones container gardens come into their own and provide the perfect practical and cost effective solution whatever the weather. Growing Zones are unique mobile raised flower, herb or vegetable gardens which can be wheeled safely inside or under cover depending on the weather and the nature of the lesson.
They come with a number of transferable planting pods available in a range of sizes and styles. These can be assigned to an individual child or a group of children to grow and maintain their own flowers, vegetables or herbs and are easy to weed and water. Even better, because the system is totally portable and flexible, the children can take the individual planting pods home for the holidays – one less job for the school caretaker!

Access and Inclusion
The Instaplanta system is particularly useful for schools which cater for children with special needs as our raised beds come in a range of sizes and can be easily accessed by wheelchair users. The individual planting pods can be transported and placed in any given location, at whatever height is comfortable for the user, by utilising one of our mobile work stations.
See the joy and pride on children’s faces when they’ve successfully grown their own produce and save time and money for your school at the same time.
We are also pleased to announce that Victoriana Nursery Gardens have agreed to partner with us and offer any school a 20% discount on all their plants or seeds to make the most of your new Instaplanta container. They offer a wide range including vegetable seeds and pretty perennial plants. They are a traditional old fashioned nursery so can offer additional advice or support should you need it and grow everything naturally so you won't need to worry about any nasties for your children.
